My LinkedIn Tips
1/27/2012 1:29:42 PM

Based on my experience of using Linked In, here are some of my tips. I hope you find them useful!

  • When inviting people to Link In with me, I always personalise my message, usually recalling where we met. This makes it easier for people to remember who you are!
  • I dislike it when people invite me to Link In and indicate that I'm a friend, when I don't even know them. They do this because then they don't need your email address. It's not difficult to look up someone's email address on the Internet.

  • I personally don't like to link my Twitter account with LinkedIn. They're two very different forums.

  • I frequently get invites from people who I don't know. I like to send them a message to say that as we haven't met I would be interested to know why they would like to Link In and how we may help each other. I have always received positive responses to this.

  • I like to utilise my profile as much as possible to sell myself:
    • I have completed the 'Skills' section of my profile, listing as many as are relevant.
    • I have used the description under my name to describe my business as well as other roles I have.

  • I always ask for recommendations. Once they are on Linked In you can always use the words on your website or other promotional material.
Welcome to my first blog entry

Welcome to my very first blog entry.

One of my tasks in the new year was to get my blog up and running, so here it is!

Having thoroughly enjoyed 18 days holiday over the Christmas period, I used the time to relax, have some quality family time and recharge my batteries.
Feeling refreshed it has made me think again about that "old nutshell" of the importance of achieving a balance in life between ‘work & play’.

Take a look at all aspects of your personal and business life, and see what parts (if any) could be done by other people.

Find ways to free up some time to spend on the things that are important to you, whether that’s growing your business, having more fun or both!
